Exploring the Markets of Florence

by admin Leave a Comment

If you’re looking for a unique shopping experience, you won’t want to miss out on the markets in Florence Italy. From leather goods to handmade crafts, there’s something for everyone in this bustling Mediterranean city. Whether you’re looking for souvenirs or gifts, or just want to explore the local culture, these markets are sure to have something that will catch your eye.

San Lorenzo Market
The San Lorenzo market is one of the oldest and most famous markets in the city of Florence. Located near the Basilica di San Lorenzo and Piazza del Duomo, it is an ideal spot for those who are looking for souvenirs or a unique piece of jewelry or clothing. You can find everything from handmade crafts to leather goods to books and antiques here. The market also has several food stalls where you can sample some traditional Italian cuisine before heading off to explore more of the city.

Mercato Nuovo
Also known as “the new market”, Mercato Nuovo is located just off Piazza della Repubblica and has been operating since 1884. It is especially popular with tourists due to its iconic “porcellino” (little pig) statue which is said to bring good luck if you rub its nose! Here you can find all sorts of items ranging from jewelry and clothing to leather goods and other souvenirs. Be sure to bargain with the vendors here as prices tend to be higher than at other markets due to its location near popular tourist spots.

Mercato Centrale
If you’re looking for fresh produce, then Mercato Centrale is the place for you. This bustling indoor market has been around since 1874 and offers a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, breads, and pastries – all made with locally sourced ingredients. It’s also a great spot for people-watching as it’s usually very crowded with locals doing their daily shopping.

No matter what kind of shopping experience you’re looking for in Florence Italy, one thing’s for sure – there’s no shortage of options when it comes to markets! From traditional Italian foods at Mercato Centrale to handmade crafts at San Lorenzo Market and everything in between at Mercato Nuovo – there’s something here for everyone who visits this beautiful Mediterranean city! So don’t forget your wallet when exploring these amazing markets!
